Privacy Policy

Minimizer for YouTube and Minimizer for YouTube Classic are Android apps provided by Vlasis Alexopoulos, a sole proprietor based in Greece. Using the apps or this website means you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you have questions about anything here, the contact address is at the bottom of the page and it reaches a person, not a queue.

Minimizer is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.

Signing in is optional. Minimizer works without an account, you simply won’t see your subscriptions, playlists or watch history.

When you do sign in, you sign in to Google directly, on Google’s own page, shown inside the app. Your email address and password are never seen, handled or stored by us. The session that results from signing in stays on your device, in the same way a browser keeps you signed in, and it is sent only to YouTube when the app requests your feeds and playlists on your behalf. It is never sent to our servers.

Everything you do while signed in, watching, liking, subscribing, editing playlists, happens against your YouTube account and is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. Signing out from the Profile tab ends the session on your device.

An anonymous device identifier. So that the app can reach our services without you creating an account, it reads your device’s Android ID. We do not store that value: our server converts it with a one-way cryptographic hash (HMAC) and keeps only the result. It lets us recognise the same installation across sessions, issue access tokens, and detect abuse. It cannot be reversed into your device or your identity.

Diagnostic and crash information. When something goes wrong, we receive a report describing what failed, typically the device model, Android version, app version, available memory and the technical details of the error. This is what lets a bug affecting a handful of people get found and fixed.

Usage information. The apps may collect anonymous, aggregated information about which features are used and how often. For example how many people use a particular feature, or how frequently downloads are started. This is used to decide what to build and improve. It is not tied to your identity and does not include what you watch, search for, or download.

App integrity checks. To confirm that requests come from a genuine, unmodified copy of Minimizer installed from Google Play, the app uses the Google Play Integrity API. This protects the service from automated abuse. The result is a signed verdict from Google about the app and device; it does not identify you.

When you download a video, audio track or thumbnail, the app sends our server the video identifier and the format and quality you chose. Our server retrieves that content, prepares the file, and gives your device a link to fetch it. Your device then downloads the file normally.

Finished files are stored temporarily on our server for up to 24 hours and are then deleted automatically. Keeping them briefly means that if you or someone else requests the same file again within that window, it can be served immediately rather than prepared from scratch. The app also asks the server to delete a file as soon as your download completes.

We log that a download happened, the anonymous device identifier, the video identifier, the format and the outcome, so that we can diagnose failures and manage server load. Downloads are not linked to your YouTube account, and we do not build a history of what you have downloaded.

Minimizer offers an optional subscription that removes ads and supports development. Every feature of the app is available to everyone, whether or not you subscribe, nothing is locked behind it.

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card details, billing address, or any other payment information. What the app receives from Google Play is confirmation of whether an active subscription exists, which is what switches the ads off.

The free version of Minimizer shows ads, which is how development is paid for. Ads are served through Google AdMob, which may work with other advertising networks to fill them. Those partners currently include Liftoff Monetize (Vungle), Meta Audience Network, Mintegral and InMobi.

Advertising partners may use device identifiers and usage information to select and measure ads, in accordance with their own privacy policies. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before any personalised advertising takes place, and you can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy options.

Subscribers see no ads at all, and no ad requests are made from their devices.

• Return YouTube Dislike - used to show dislike counts, which YouTube no longer makes public. Only the video identifier is sent.

Minimizer includes an incognito mode that blocks tracking requests from YouTube, so that your viewing is not recorded to your YouTube watch history. It affects what YouTube records; it does not change what is described elsewhere on this page.

• Downloaded files: up to 24 hours, then deleted automatically.
• Anonymous device records and tokens: for as long as the installation stays in use. Uninstalling the app ends the relationship; the record becomes inactive and is removed in due course.
• Crash reports: retained by Firebase according to Google’s retention periods, typically 90 days.
• Server logs: kept briefly for diagnostics and abuse prevention, then rotated away.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

In practice, we hold very little that could identify you, a hashed device identifier and the technical records described above. If you would like that removed, email us and say so, and include your Install ID, which you can find in the app under Profile → Request support. Without it we may not be able to find the right record.

Traffic between the apps and our servers is encrypted. Sensitive values stored on your device are encrypted using the Android Keystore. Access to our servers is restricted, and requests are authenticated. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute protection but we take it seriously and design accordingly.

Minimizer is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone in that age group. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it promptly.

The apps and this website contain links to services we do not operate. If you follow one, its own terms and privacy policy apply. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites.

When this policy changes we will post the revised version here and update the date below. If a change is significant, we will say so in the app as well.
